Net Zero - Waste

Net zero plastic aims to eliminate new plastic pollution. This means preventing plastic waste or offsetting it with cleanup or advanced recycling that captures all plastic used.  It requires a multi-pronged approach of reducing plastic use, maximizing recycling, and potentially using technologies like carbon capture for non-recyclables. 

Compostable packaging ditches plastic for plant-based materials.  It breaks down in a compost pile, turning into nutrient-rich soil food.  This reduces landfill waste and helps the environment,  but be sure it goes in the right bin for composting success! 

EPR credits reward producers for exceeding recycling targets.  Earned for plastic, batteries, tires, and electronics.  These "credits" can be traded with companies falling short,  ensuring overall recycling goals are met and waste is responsibly managed. 

PCR stands for Post-Consumer Recycled. These eco-friendly products and granules  get a second life!  Made from used plastics like bottles and containers,  they reduce reliance on virgin plastic and its environmental impact.  PCR granules are melted and molded into new products,  closing the loop and keeping plastic out of landfills. 

Sewage treatment cleans dirty water from homes and businesses.  In multi-stage steps, it removes solids, breaks down organic matter, and disinfects.  This protects our environment and water sources from harmful pollutants.  Treated water may be released or even reused for irrigation!
